Photographs - Harrison Park - 2014

This series documents trees found in Harrison Park, Owen Sound. They explore nature’s cycles of life, death, growth and decomposition and how man interacts with these states: a fallen tree lays waiting for a purpose; damaged tree stumps visually expose a narrative of a trees life through its ring patterns, we plant trees to commemorate loved ones who have passed away; we construct a bench from a tree creating a spot for contemplation/reflection/solace being immersed in nature; and a log lays waiting for installation. With these images my intent was to emphasize a richness and beauty found in all cycles of life as well as man’s inherent connectedness and dependence on nature.
