This is a community project to help homeowners and businesses transition to a sustainable yard. Nature in its circular form of "CHAOS EQUALING FOOD", creates habitats, supporting biodiversity and restoration.

What might this look like?

Explore and choose from multiple native plants: flowering bee & butterfly pollinators, grasses, shrubs, trees, and edible plants.

Climate change has taught us that biodiversity is crucial to the planet. Grass was once a symbol of aristocracy and wealth, but today it is just harming our environment. What if we changed that? Our yards could be a sign of living in harmony with Nature. We could let our yards and plants naturally evolve and propagate.

By planting native plants that are adapted to the soil, we can support the ecosystem with pollinators and natural grasses without the need to mow and create carbon emissions. This would help sequester carbon in our soil and reduce our carbon footprint.

THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS TO CHANGE

We are focusing on the Ottawa Valley's  Sandy Dry Soil or Prairie-Style Garden

Student Project

Hi, I am a sustainability student at the Minneapolis School of Art & Design, working on a project for my Innovation Tools & Technology class, following my design principles.

This project's purpose is to provide the tools to create change. Change in our thinking of what a yard should be or look like, to what it could be or how it could look, in response to our devastating evidence of climate change, experienced worldwide.

Let's share our gardens with pollinators, birds, and insects to connect with nature. This is an easier way to live. Choosing native plants can only have benefits as Nature designed.
